Night City just got a whole lot prettier. The YouTube channel Digital Dreams dropped a Cyberpunk 2077 demo running at 8K resolution, and it's the kind of footage that makes you want to rebuild your whole PC.
The demo stacks a few heavy hitters together: the UltraPunk graphics mod, a custom AdaptiveVision shader, and DLSS 5. Together they completely rework how Night City looks, from reworked reflections and volumetric fog to the way wet pavement catches the glow of neon signs.
The video walks through both first-person and third-person city traversal, plus some driving through busy streets. There are also close-up comparisons of NPC character models, so you can see how much detail holds up when you zoom in.
And that's the real flex here. At 8K, tiny geometry, clothing textures, the metallic finish on cars, and road surface details all stay remarkably crisp. Jagged edges and blur are noticeably reduced, and even distant cityscapes keep their clarity instead of dissolving into mush.
To actually run this modded setup at such a ridiculous resolution, the creator leaned on an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition. That combo is what allows the game to handle complex shaders and heavy post-processing effects while keeping rendering quality high, even in Night City's dense urban environments.
One important caveat, though: the DLSS 5 used in this demo is not an officially released NVIDIA version. That means the image quality and performance you're seeing here don't represent what the final, official DLSS 5 will actually deliver. So take these early demos with a grain of salt, and wait for NVIDIA to officially roll out the feature before drawing any conclusions.
Still, it's a fun glimpse at where things could be headed. Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
What do you think, choom? Is this the future of Night City, or are you waiting for the real DLSS 5 before getting excited? Let us know in the comments.
