Bloodborne PC Port Made with AI, Fans Aren't Happy

A fan-made Bloodborne PC port called The Hunter's Dream credits AI Claude for most of its work, sparking backlash from FromSoftware fans who call it 'AI slop.'

Bloodborne PC Port Made with AI, Fans Aren't Happy

Ever dreamed of playing Bloodborne on PC with full multiplayer? Well, a fan project called The Hunter's Dream claims to offer exactly that—but there's a catch. A big one. The port was apparently made using generative AI, and the community is not vibing with it.

According to its official website and Twitter posts, The Hunter's Dream supports multiplayer, keyboard and mouse controls, and works on Windows and Linux (including Steam Deck). Sounds impressive, right? But dig into the creator's GitHub page, and you'll find Claude—yes, the AI bot—credited as one of the "people" who worked on pretty much every aspect of the project. That's a lot of AI involvement.

The backlash was swift. Comments on the social media post unveiling the project are overwhelmingly negative. "It's not really a native port btw," one person wrote. "AI just slopped stuff from the emulator." Another declared, "NOT PLAYING THIS AI SLOP I WILL JUST USE THE EMULATOR MADE BY HUMANS!" Others warned that the project stems from "fucking Claude."

There's also the practical catch: as one commenter pointed out, "you still fucking need the original copy of Bloodborne and an e-boot from your PS4." That makes sense—otherwise it'd be outright illegal. Not that the current situation is totally clean, either.

So, should you bother? Personally, I'd give this one a miss. If you're holding out for an official Bloodborne PC port or remaster, don't hold your breath. Even former PlayStation chief Shuhei Yoshida doesn't know why it hasn't happened, calling it "a complete mystery." And that checks out.

Meanwhile, the Bloodborne movie produced by Jacksepticeye is moving forward, though the YouTuber admitted "80% of the responses were critical" of his involvement. He reassured fans he's "trying to honor the universe." So at least there's something official in the works—just not the PC port you might be craving.

What do you think about AI-generated fan projects? Will you be trying The Hunter's Dream, or are you sticking with human-made emulators? Let us know in the comments!
