Ever wondered what it's like to flee racism in America on a ship captained by Snoop Dogg, only to land in 1915 Japan and still feel like an outsider? That's exactly how Stranger Than Heaven kicks off its opening act for protagonist Makoto Daito and his friend-turned-rival Yu Shinjo.

The journey to Japan in the Kokura era might have been tough, but the real challenge is being seen as an outsider even by your own people. The opening act seems to set up that question, and possibly dive deeper into an era where modern development often clashed with rigid traditions and worldviews.

Daito's arrival puts him right in the center of it all, on a path of harsh realities. But we're hoping that pain translates into an act where he takes over stages with style and substance, eventually bringing performances to life as a music producer without compare.

Maybe he'll even take down some bad guys with the game's well-tuned combat system while he's at it. The mix of music and combat sounds like a wild ride, and we're eager to see how it all comes together.

Stranger Than Heaven is set to launch on January 15th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can check out the new trailer below for an early sneak peek of Act 1.
