Marvel Rivals Devs Are Trying Hard Not to Spoil Avengers: Doomsday

NetEase is taking extra care to prevent leaks for Marvel Rivals' Avengers: Doomsday crossover, but recent leaks suggest otherwise.

Marvel Rivals Devs Are Trying Hard Not to Spoil Avengers: Doomsday

Ever worried that a video game might accidentally spoil the next big Marvel movie? That's exactly what NetEase is trying to avoid with Marvel Rivals and its upcoming Avengers: Doomsday crossover.

2026 has been a massive year for Marvel Rivals. The devs have been celebrating four Avengers MCU themes with new cosmetics and modes throughout the year on the Path to Doomsday. It kicked off in April with an Avengers-themed event featuring a 6v1 asymmetrical mode where you team up against a single Loki. This week marks the Infinity War event, introducing a 2v2 mode where two teams of 6 players battle with the Infinity Stones in round-robin bouts. Later this month, a PVE mode based on Endgame drops, where 50 players fight Thanos and his army. Naturally, all this is set to culminate with Avengers: Doomsday in December.

But for Rivals to have Doomsday-themed content, it needs insider info. Speaking to FRVR, Marvel Rivals game director Guangyun Chen assured, "We are doing everything we can to prevent any leaks for this important event." That's a strong commitment, especially since Marvel Studios takes spoilers very seriously—just ask Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo.

Unfortunately, that assurance is somewhat undercut by supposed leaks for Marvel Rivals season 11, which peg Nightcrawler and Dr. Doom—both set to play big roles in Doomsday—as the new characters added next season. Not to mention Season 10's Gorr the God Butcher was leaked ahead of time too. So, the track record isn't great.

Granted, it's unlikely the crossover will spoil too much about the movie, least of all the "surprising ending" Joe Russo is hyping up. I'd be shocked if the film's ending—which features Beast transforming into Frasier Crane in a Dragon Ball Z-like sequence where he one-shots Doom—will be crucial to the new season. But let's hope no leaks happen, just to be safe.

Marvel Rivals hasn't managed to beat Overwatch's stats yet, but Disney boasts it's still "attracted 40 million players worldwide." That's a huge player base, and with all this Avengers content, it's clear NetEase is aiming to keep them engaged.

So, what do you think? Will Marvel Rivals manage to keep Doomsday under wraps, or are we in for more leaks? Let us know in the comments!
