Call of Duty: MW4 Campaign Early Access Begins Today

Are you ready to dive back into the world of Modern Warfare? Today, October 16, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's campaign goes live for those who preordered. It's a huge moment for the franchise, and Infinity Ward has one simple request: don't spoil the story for others.

The campaign is available to preload right now, but it won't unlock until 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. You can play early on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. So if you've been waiting to see how this chapter unfolds, the time is almost here.

Infinity Ward took to social media to address the community directly. "We've one one ask. Let everyone experience it for themselves. Keep the campaign spoilers under wraps," the developer said. "Time to go dark." It's a clear plea to protect the experience for everyone, especially those who can't jump in immediately.

Call of Duty: MW4 Campaign Early Access Begins Today

MW4 is expected to wrap up the current Modern Warfare storyline that began with 2019's Modern Warfare. Activision boss Tyler Bahl told The Game Business that MW4 is the "epic conclusion of the recent series of Modern Warfare." He added, "It's not that some characters and pieces can't live on beyond this and be reinvented. But we're excited by closing this chapter and launching a new one." Bahl also hinted at the future: "Where we go with future games, we have to innovate."

And innovate they will, as Bahl confirmed that a new sub-franchise for Call of Duty is in the works after years of Modern Warfare and Black Ops games. That's big news for a series that has largely alternated between those two pillars. It sounds like the team is ready to explore fresh territory.

But before we get there, there's plenty to play in MW4. The official launch is October 23, but early access doesn't stop at the campaign. The new version of DMZ unlocks on October 20 for preorder customers. Multiplayer, however, won't be available until the full launch on October 23. So you'll have to wait a bit longer to squad up with friends.

So, will you be jumping into the campaign today? And if you do, remember: keep those spoilers to yourself. The rest of us will thank you. What do you think about MW4 closing out this era of Modern Warfare? Let us know in the comments!
