PS5's Kena: Scars of Kosmora Delayed to 2027

Were you hoping to dive into Kena's next adventure this year? Bad news: Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been pushed back to 2027.

Developer Ember Lab announced the delay, saying they need more time to "deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality" of 2021's Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The sequel was originally set to launch this year, but now you'll have to wait a bit longer.

In a blog post, the studio explained that pushing the release to 2027 will let them "really polish the expanded game experience" they want to deliver. They also thanked fans for their patience and support, adding that they hope you're just as excited to jump into Kena's next adventure as they are to share it.

Scars of Kosmora is a linear adventure game like its predecessor, but with a "broader and deeper scope." This time, Kena is a seasoned spirit guide on a journey to the island of Kosmora to find a cure for her affliction and reconnect with a friend from her past. The island holds a powerful corruption that fractures her staff, forcing her to adopt a new method of manipulating the elements. Along the way, she'll discover and nurture memorable spirit companions, whose powers she'll harness to solve puzzles and defeat enemies using new elemental abilities.

The original Kena: Bridge of Spirits launched in 2021 on PS4, PS5, and PC, and later came to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2024. A Switch 2 edition arrived in March this year. So far, Scars of Kosmora has only been confirmed for PS5 and PC.

While the wait is longer than expected, it sounds like Ember Lab is committed to making the sequel worth it. The extra time should hopefully mean a more polished, ambitious game when it finally arrives.
