Hideo Kojima says he doesn't know if his new spy game Physint will be Xbox exclusive, leaving fans guessing about the platform's plans.

Kojima: Physint Xbox Exclusivity Still Up in the Air

Did you hear the one about Hideo Kojima's new spy game jumping ship to Xbox? Yeah, Physint is now in Microsoft's hands after Sony dropped it, but here's the kicker: even Kojima doesn't know if it'll be an Xbox exclusive. In a chat with IGN, he straight-up said, "That would be a question for Xbox. But I don't know for sure." So if you're already planning your console purchase around this game, maybe hold off a sec.

Now, why the uncertainty? Under former Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Microsoft started putting its big games on rival platforms—even Halo landed on PlayStation. But new CEO Asha Sharma has hinted at a return to exclusives. That means decisions about which games stay exclusive will be made case by case. So Physint could go either way, and Kojima isn't spilling the beans.

Kojima did share what he thinks Xbox's overall goal is. He said, "In previous updates from Xbox, I thought that they have this kind of stance where they want to deliver to as many gamers as possible, no matter what the platform is." That sounds like a wide-release strategy, but he also added that all the official news will come later. "I think all of that will be announced at a later time. I'm not sure yet, and I can't really say."

If you're out of the loop, here's the backstory: Sony reportedly dropped Physint because it was over budget and late. Kojima Productions told fans to treat those reports with skepticism, but they didn't deny or refute them. Kojima himself said he was "shocked" when he got the news on a Zoom call, especially since he believed Physint could be his best-selling game ever. Ouch.

Xbox isn't just publishing Physint—they've also got Kojima's horror game OD. Both projects are star-studded: Bill Skarsgard will star in Physint, while OD features Hunter Schafer, Sophia Lillis, and the late Udo Kier. That's a lot of talent, but neither game has a release date or much concrete info yet. So we're all just waiting.

So what does this mean for you? If you're a PlayStation owner hoping to play Physint, the door isn't closed yet. If you're on Xbox, don't pop the champagne just yet. Kojima's keeping us all in suspense, and honestly, that's kind of his thing. We'll have to wait for official word from Xbox.

What do you think—should Physint be an Xbox exclusive, or should everyone get a chance to play it? Will you be picking it up no matter where it lands? Let us know in the comments!
