Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Console Looks Like a Work of Art

Nintendo's Zelda-themed hardware has always been a bit special, but this one might just take the cake. Fresh real-world photos of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 have surfaced online, and honestly? It looks less like a console and more like a museum piece.

The images come courtesy of well-known gaming blogger Genki, who shared the shots on social media. The limited-edition system was shown off in physical form, giving us our best look yet at what Nintendo has cooked up for the series' big birthday.

The dock is where things get really fancy. It's covered in a large gold Triforce emblem, accented with subtle geometric patterns that give the whole thing a premium, almost jewelry-like feel. It's the kind of design that makes you want to just stare at your TV stand.

The matching Joy-Con controllers are no slouch either. They sport a dark green metallic finish, with the Triforce symbol and classic Zelda pixel-art motifs printed right on the surface. Every inch of this thing is packed with series iconography, and it's clearly aimed at longtime fans who've been with Link since the beginning.

Under the hood, it's the same Switch 2 hardware you already know. The customization is purely cosmetic, covering the shell, the Joy-Con, and the dock. So you're not missing out on any performance if you opt for a standard model, but you're definitely missing out on the style.

The full set is currently on public display in a showcase cabinet, which means we're likely inching closer to an official release. As for when you can actually get your hands on one, that's still up in the air, but the fact that it's out in the wild suggests an announcement isn't far off.
