Nacon Revolution 5 Unlimited: First PS5 Controller with Screen & Dock

Ever wished your PS5 controller had a screen? Nacon just made that dream a reality with the Revolution 5 Unlimited. It's the first officially licensed PS5 controller to feature a built-in display and menu system, and it also comes with a charging dock—another first for PS5. If you're a PS5 player who's been eyeing the fancy controllers on Xbox and PC, your patience is about to pay off.

The Revolution 5 Unlimited isn't Nacon's first rodeo. Their previous PS5 controller, the Revolution 5 Pro, has been a top pick in our buyer's guide for its stellar build quality. Then they released the Revolution X Unlimited for Xbox, which became a favorite among many. Now, the R5U takes everything great about those and adds a screen that lets you control connections, button mapping, profiles, lighting, thumbstick sensitivity, and more—all from the controller itself.

But that's not all. You get six extra buttons (four back buttons and two extra bumpers), TMR thumbsticks that improve on the Xbox version's Hall effect sticks, and face buttons with microswitches that feel incredibly light and tactile. It's a pro controller that rivals the Scuf Omega and Razer Raiju V3 Pro. However, like all officially licensed PS5 controllers, it lacks the DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive trigger resistance. Nacon works around this by using built-in vibration feedback in its dedicated PC mode, which adds a bit of heft for those who prefer it.

Nacon also includes a carrying case, charging dock, additional weights, different thumbstick tops, a wireless dongle, a cleaning cloth, and a cable. You can customize the controller using a dedicated mobile app instead of a PC one, a change from Nacon's previous gamepads. When asked about a future PC app, Nacon's product managers didn't give a concrete answer.

The biggest downside? The price. In the US, it'll set you back $229.99, while in the UK it's £179.99. That's a huge disparity—making it one of the most expensive PS5 pads in the US but actually one of the more affordable ones in the UK, where it undercuts the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded. Still, for the feature set, it might be worth it.

We can't wait to get our hands on what seems to be the most feature-rich PS5 controller to date. With its screen, dock, and pro-grade features, the Revolution 5 Unlimited could be a game-changer for PS5 players. Will you be picking one up? Let us know in the comments!
