ANA's New Pokemon Plane Is a Flying Pokedex (and It's Amazing)

Ever dreamed of flying on a plane that's basically a giant Pokedex? Well, that dream just became reality. Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) has unveiled a Pokemon-themed airliner, and it looks absolutely incredible.

Called the Green Pokemon Jet, it took its inaugural flight from Haneda to Honolulu today after a big unveiling event. And this isn't just a simple sticker job—the plane is covered in iconic Pokemon like Bulbasaur and, of course, Pikachu. Because no Pokemon plane is complete without Pikachu, right? There's also Browt, a newer Pokemon set to appear in Winds and Waves.

But the Pokemon magic doesn't stop at the exterior. Step inside, and you'll find headrest covers, paper cups, and napkins all featuring Pokemon branding. Plus, you can enjoy Pokemon-themed in-flight entertainment, including Pokemon: The First Movie and a best-of soundtrack from the show spanning 1997 to 2023. Talk about a nostalgic trip at 30,000 feet.

This special plane isn't just flying between Haneda and Honolulu. It'll also make stops at various airports in Okinawa, Kyushu, and Shikoku. So if you're traveling in Japan, you might just get lucky and spot it—or even better, fly on it.

The Green Pokemon Jet is part of the franchise's 30th-anniversary celebration this year. And it's not the first time Pokemon has taken to the skies. Back in 2000, Japan Airlines announced its fleet would feature Pokemon characters on domestic flights, along with themed in-flight entertainment. More recently, in 2024, ANA created a Pokemon-themed safety video featuring the adorable monsters teaching passengers how to stay safe.
