Spider-Man 4 Rerelease Could Add Deleted Claire Temple Scene

Guess who might be swinging back into theaters? Sony is reportedly putting together a rerelease of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and this one could come with some extra Spidey goodness you haven't seen yet.

According to multiple overseas reports, the studio is prepping a new theatrical version of the film that won't just be a straight re-run. Word is it'll include fresh footage that wasn't in the original cut, so if you thought you'd already seen everything Brand New Day had to offer, think again.

The most talked-about addition? A scene featuring Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Dawson previously revealed she filmed a Claire scene for the movie, but it never made it into the final theatrical version. Now reports suggest that deleted material could finally see the light of day as part of the rerelease — and it might not be the only new bit included.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day first hit theaters in multiple markets at the end of July this year, and it's still playing in some regions. In mainland China, its theatrical run wrapped up recently with a final box office of 1.586 billion RMB. Over in North America, it pulled in roughly $951 million, making it the highest-grossing single film in the region's history. Worldwide, the total sits at about $2.495 billion, good for third place on the all-time global box office chart.

If the rerelease goes smoothly, the film could have a shot at pushing past the $1 billion mark in North America — a milestone that would be a huge deal even for a movie that's already broken records.
