Have you been trying to get your hands on the new Foundations Commander decks for Magic: The Gathering, only to find them sold out everywhere? Well, good news: they're finally back in stock at major online retailers like Amazon, though not all of them are easy to find.
The five Foundations Commander decks launched on October 2, 2026, alongside the Reality Fracture set. They're designed to be an affordable entry point into Commander, MTG's most popular multiplayer format. Each deck features a different mono-color strategy built around a familiar creature type or playstyle—Angels, Dragons, Dinosaurs, Zombies, and artifacts—so there's something for everyone.
But here's the catch: after months of intermittent stock shortages, prices have crept up on some of these precons. The MSRP is $30, but you'll likely pay more. For example, the mono-red Dragon deck, Reign of Dragons, is available at Amazon for $35.44—still well below its TCGplayer market average of $47.68. The mono-black Zombie deck, Wretched Ranks, is $39.99, which matches its market rate. The mono-blue artifact deck, Keen Engineering, is $43.07, but we expect that to drop soon since it's been selling below MSRP recently and has a current market price of $30.26.
The best deal right now is on Calling All Angels, the mono-white Angels deck. It's back in stock at $29.99—that's MSRP, and $22 below its market average of $52. If you're looking for value, this is the one to grab.
Unfortunately, the mono-green Dinosaur deck, Tramplesaurus Rex, isn't back in stock yet. That means it's climbing on the secondary market, reaching $60 on TCGplayer thanks to reprints like Surrak and Goreclaw. As fun as big dinos are, paying double MSRP isn't worth it. We expect Wizards of the Coast to reprint these decks regularly since they carry the Foundations name, so prices should come down eventually. Keep an eye out!
For those new to the format, Foundations is an ideal starting point. Calling All Angels is helmed by Giada, Font of Hope; Reign of Dragons stars Lathliss, Dragon Queen; Tramplesaurus Rex ramps into Ghalta, Primal Hunger; Wretched Ranks is led by Ghoulcaller Gisa; and Keen Engineering is commanded by Sai, Master Thopterist. These decks prioritize cohesion over competitiveness, making them perfect for introducing friends or family to Commander over the holidays.
If you're buying, consider picking up single decks rather than the bundle—the five-deck bundle averages around $195, which is $45 over its $149.95 MSRP. And remember, the closer you get to $30 per deck, the better. Will you be picking up any of these Foundations Commander decks? Let us know in the comments!
