Ever wondered how long you'll be spending in Albion when the Fable reboot finally drops? Well, Playground Games has just given us a rough idea, and it sounds like you'll get your money's worth.
In a recent chat with Polygon, associate game director Will Kennedy spilled the beans on the game's length. "We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay," he said. But that's not all – there's a whole other chunk of content waiting for you. "We have another 15-20 hours worth of side and open-world exploration content gameplay," Kennedy added.
So, we're looking at roughly 30-40 hours of questing and exploring. But if you're the type who likes to live in a game world, you're in luck. The life systems – think buying houses, getting married, growing your character's legend – are apparently limitless. "You can literally play it forever if that's what you want to do," said associate game director Craig Littler.
That's a bold claim, but Fable has always been about more than just the main story. The series is known for its quirky humor, moral choices, and the ability to just mess around in the world. So, the idea of endless life sim elements doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Now, about that release date. Fable was originally slated for 2026, but it's been pushed back to avoid a "chaotic window" – and let's be honest, we all know that means GTA 6. So, mark your calendars for February 23, 2027, when the game launches on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
But here's the thing – recent gameplay footage from Gamescom had some fans worried. It looked a bit rough around the edges. However, GameSpot's hands-on time with the game tells a different story, so maybe don't judge it on a blurry video just yet.
With a solid main story length, a ton of side content, and the promise of endless life sim fun, Fable is shaping up to be a game you could sink hundreds of hours into. Will you be picking this up when it launches, or are you waiting to see more gameplay first?
