Wardogs Season 2 Pays You to Play Blue Team

Bulkhead is offering bonus cash and XP to Lonestar players in Wardogs Season 2, aiming to fix the blue team's notoriously low win rate.

Wardogs Season 2 Pays You to Play Blue Team

Ever been on a team so bad the developers had to bribe people to join? That's exactly what's happening in Wardogs Season 2, where Bulkhead is straight-up paying players to suit up as the blue team, Lonestar.

The devs have acknowledged that one team—Lonestar—has a "notoriously lower win rate" than the other two. They admit there are "valid complaints around Lonestar's uniform visibility and certain spawn positions," but they also point out that "sentiment around the blue team is the largest driving factor for players not wanting to play on that team." So, for Season 2 only, playing as Lonestar will net you bonus cash and XP on wins, plus teamplay action cash and XP multipliers. Yes, you read that right: they're literally paying you to play the losing team.

But that's not all. Lonestar uniforms are getting a makeover—they'll be "more desaturated to stick out less compared to other factions." Because let's face it, blue is an extraordinarily rare color in nature, and for good reason: it's basically a neon sign saying "shoot me." Spawn imbalances are also being addressed, with "all faction spawns moved on Bakurani."

And if you find yourself on the losing side—specifically, at least 40 points behind second place—you'll get a new 20% vendor discount. Bulkhead clarifies this is "relevant to all teams, not just Lonestar." So even if you're not blue, you can still benefit from being terrible.

Season 2 also introduces new team switching restrictions to stop late switches from deciding matches. Once a team is more than 10 points ahead, you won't be able to switch teams for 15 minutes after joining one. Plus, if you switch teams or join a match in progress, your map stays obscured until you reach the control zone for the first time. And you can't use the spawn vehicle until you do. Bulkhead says these changes are meant to "increase friction for team switch abusers, whilst still allowing for you to join the team of your friends if needed."

On top of that, community server hosts who exploit the faction bonus added to Lonestar "will be punished." So play nice, folks.

Wardogs has already made over $100 million on Steam, according to an analyst, but the new shooter couldn't beat Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2's launches. Still, Bulkhead is hoping these changes will balance the scales—or at least make blue team a little less of a punchline. Will you be taking the bribe and joining Lonestar?
