Did you hear that FX's Far Cry TV series just got a whole lot starrier? The anthology show, which is being co-run by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac, has added a bunch of big names to its first season. Get ready for a wild ride.
According to Variety, Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi are joining the cast, along with Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater, Jamie Demetriou, and Sam Spruell. That's a seriously impressive lineup for any show, let alone one based on a video game.
You might know Gleeson best as Knuckles McGinty in Paddington 2, but he's also been in Spider-Noir and The Banshees of Inisherin. Leigh earned acclaim for Hateful Eight and Fargo. Linklater voices Batman in Batman: Caped Crusader, Demetriou is a familiar face from Only Murders in the Building, and Spruell recently appeared in Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. With a cast like this, it's clear FX is going all-in.
Like the games, the Far Cry TV series will be an anthology, meaning each season will introduce new settings and characters. So don't get too attached to any of these actors—they might not stick around beyond season one. That's just how Far Cry rolls.
Meanwhile, the game series has been quiet since Far Cry 6 launched in 2021. Ubisoft is reportedly working on Far Cry 7, and the franchise now falls under Creative House 1, also known as Vantage Studios. Alongside Assassin's Creed and Rainbow Six, Vantage Studios is focused on scaling and extending these big IPs. Tencent also has a significant stake in the subsidiary, having invested $1 billion.
So, what do you think of this cast? Are you excited to see how Far Cry translates to TV? Let us know in the comments!
