Crimson Desert Expansion Delayed Two Weeks to October 29

Pearl Abyss pushes Charting the Unknown back two weeks for extra polish. The $24.99 DLC adds a new zone, sea exploration, and base building.

Crimson Desert Expansion Delayed Two Weeks to October 29

Did you clear your calendar for Crimson Desert's first expansion? You might need to shuffle things around. Pearl Abyss just announced that Charting the Unknown is delayed by two weeks, moving from October 15 to October 29.

The studio says the extra time is to "deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience." Fair enough—nobody wants a buggy launch, especially for a game that's already had its share of ups and downs.

Charting the Unknown was only revealed at September's State of Play, with that super-ambitious October 15 date. Turns out that was a bit too ambitious. But hey, a two-week wait is nothing compared to the months some delays drag on.

What's actually in the expansion? It opens up a brand-new zone, adds sea exploration to the already massive world, and beefs up base building. The trailer hints you'll be able to construct new buildings, which could easily add another hundred hours to your playtime. If you're a builder, that's huge.

It's been a wild ride for Crimson Desert. The game launched on March 19, and while early reception was mixed, Pearl Abyss has been ironing out the issues. Now it's one of the breakout hits of the year. This expansion arrives just seven months after launch, which is a pretty quick turnaround.

When it drops on October 29, Charting the Unknown will cost $24.99. It'll be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC—same platforms as the base game.

So, are you bummed about the delay, or does the extra polish make it worth the wait? Will you be picking up the expansion on day one? Let us know in the comments!
