Square Enix just dropped some fresh details on Final Fantasy: Resonance, and if you're the kind of player who likes to know how long a game will eat up your life, we've got you covered.

The upcoming turn-based RPG got a community Q&A update, and the devs say the main story alone will take around 30 to 40 hours, depending on how you play. That's before you factor in all the optional content and side activities, which will stretch things out even further. If you want a taste right now, a free demo is already live and lets you play through the opening hours.

Final Fantasy: Resonance launches on October 22 for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. It's the first game in the series to use the HD-2D art style, blending pixel sprites with 3D backgrounds in a way that'll look familiar if you've played Octopath Traveler.

But that's not all. Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has published its first review scores for the game, and all four reviewers gave it a 9, adding up to a solid 36/40. According to Famitsu, the main story runs about 20 to 30 hours, and if you go for full completion with side content, you're looking at roughly 70 hours.

So there's a bit of a gap between the developer's estimate and Famitsu's, but either way, it sounds like there's plenty to sink your teeth into. Whether you're here for the critical path or you're a completionist who needs every last side quest, Resonance seems to have you covered.
