Control Resonant Photo Mode Mod Hits PC, Console Wait Continues

Ever wanted to freeze that perfect moment in Control Resonant? If you're on PC, you can now do just that thanks to a new mod. But if you're on console, you'll have to wait a bit longer.

Control Resonant is a visual feast, from its eerie Hiss to the crimson glow of danger zones. Every frame begs to be captured. But the game launched without a photo mode, and developer Remedy Entertainment only plans to add one in a November update. That's still months away.

Thankfully, PC players don't have to wait. Modder Kkyleeb21 on Nexus Mods has created a robust photo mode tool that switches the game to its built-in free camera and freezes time. It's designed to be similar to Alan Wake 2's photo mode, offering presets, exposure and depth-of-field controls, cropping, and six filters to get the perfect shot.

Console players on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will have to wait until November. Remedy explained in a recent blog post that they prioritized game development first. "The Photo Mode for Control Resonant is something we've been cooking for a while," Remedy wrote. "We even consulted some talented virtual photographers from the community to help us make it the best it can be. The reason Photo Mode didn't release on launch is because we needed to prioritize making sure the game was in the best possible shape. We've seen gorgeous virtual photographs you've already taken – but once the Photo Mode releases, you can really go to town. We expect to release Photo Mode sometime in November."

In the meantime, a new update has gone live, adding an enhanced New Game+ mode and much more. Game Update 1.4.0 introduces New Game++, which lets you play an infinite number of runs. It also adds a Build Power number to the Loadout screen, so you can easily see your Power level. The HUD now shows a notification icon for new items or upgrades in The Gap, and when you pin materials for upgrades, you can check if they're available at the Vendor by looking at the Vendor icon on the Map.

The update also decreases combat intensity in the Unknown Zone by 10%-15%, adds a separate volume slider for radio dialogue, and introduces a new Assist Mode option for Power Core Charge Duration with a 100-300% multiplier. There are fixes for map markers, a VFX issue during the Artist Resonant fight, and an option to mute copyrighted music (including Apocalyptica's "Upperhand" intro credits song). Other improvements include a tutorial for the Rush ability, fixed HDR highlights, subtitle and VO fixes, performance optimizations for PC, and support for Razer haptics.

So, PC players, will you be diving into the mod to capture your journey through twisted Manhattan? And console players, are you counting down the days until November? Let us know in the comments!
