Ever dreamed of defending your lawn from zombies without staring at a screen? Your chance is coming soon.
PopCap's beloved Plants vs. Zombies series is officially getting the board game treatment, and it's all thanks to Mantic Games. The tabletop publisher is bringing the long-running PvE tower defense hit to your tabletop, and the crowdfunding campaign kicks off on October 14 via Kickstarter.
If you've sunk hours into planting peashooters and wall-nuts while waves of the undead shuffle toward your house, you already know the formula. Mantic Games is now tasked with translating that frantic, lane-based defense action into a physical experience you can play with friends.
Plants vs. Zombies has been a staple of casual and mobile gaming for years, so a tabletop adaptation feels like a natural next step. Mantic Games has plenty of experience with licensed board games, which should give fans some confidence heading into the campaign.
Details beyond the launch date are still under wraps, so we don't yet know about pledge tiers, stretch goals, or exactly how the game will play. For now, the October 14 Kickstarter launch is the key date to circle on your calendar.
If you're a longtime PvZ fan or a board game collector, this is one to keep an eye on. Crowdfunding campaigns like this often move fast, and early backers sometimes snag the best deals.
