GTA 6 Launch Trailer Drops: Jason and Lucia Get Intimate as Fans Freak Out

Did you ever think you'd see the day? Rockstar just dropped the official launch trailer for GTA 6, and it's already breaking the internet. After more than a decade since GTA 5, we finally have a proper look at the next era of Grand Theft Auto.

The trailer gives us a much closer look at dual protagonists Jason and Lucia. Jason is rocking long hair for most of it, and in the opening seconds, he opens up about the struggles he's faced since a less-than-glamorous military departure. Lucia, meanwhile, is seen wearing a monitoring anklet during an intimate shower scene, and at one point she asks, "Are we gonna be OK" amid all the crime swirling around them.

And yes, Rockstar was in a very helicopter mood. One chopper crashes right behind an assault rifle-toting Jason, Lucia rides another through the streets with a grenade launcher in hand, and a third sequence shows a helicopter carrying a chained load of presumably stolen cargo through the city like a wrecking ball, shattering windows on another building. Then a short-haired Jason emerges from a helicopter, only for the scene to cut to him and Lucia jumping off a roof into some kind of hotel pool. Talk about a wild ride.

The trailer also features the debut of 'Flower in a Hurricane' from original score composers Justice feat. Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. That song will appear on the official GTA 6 soundtrack album. The video description sets the tone: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

Fans are losing their minds, and honestly, who can blame them? The trailer crossed 1 million views on YouTube in about half an hour, if you can trust the metrics that were clearly overwhelmed. In the comments, hopefuls expressed disbelief at finally having a launch trailer. "I thought I would never live this moment," reads one top comment. "We are really at the finish line!!!" says another.

GTA 6 is out November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X. The launch trailer was captured on PS5, with a clear PlayStation marketing push bookending it. And if you needed another reminder of why GTA 6 took so long, it has a realistic sweat system that makes Jason and Lucia perspire based on how hard they dance. Yes, really.

So, what do you think of the trailer? Will you be picking up GTA 6 when it launches? Let us know in the comments!
