GTA 5 Finally Gets a Jetpack Thanks to This Mod

Tired of GTA 5 lacking the iconic San Andreas jetpack? A new mod called Aerowing adds a wearable jetpack with weapons and slick animations. Here's what you need to know.

GTA 5 Finally Gets a Jetpack Thanks to This Mod

Remember the jetpack in GTA: San Andreas? The one that let you soar over Las Venturas like a caffeinated superhero? GTA 5 never got one, and honestly, that's always felt like a missing piece. But now, thanks to a mod called Aerowing - Wearable Jet Pack & Weapon System, you can finally take to the skies in Los Santos.

The mod isn't just a simple hop-and-flight affair. According to the source, you get a full animation where the camera circles your character as they strike an Iron Man-style pose before launching skyward. There's even a speedometer in the corner to measure your courage as you glide. And you're not just flying—you're armed. The jetpack comes with three weapons: SMG, plasma, and 'tube' (which the author suspects might just be another SMG).

Installing it wasn't exactly smooth sailing. The author had to reboot their PC and the game a couple of times before it finally worked. But once it did, it was a 'rollicking good time.' There's a small hiccup though: sometimes activating the jetpack also triggers a street golfing mod, causing confusion. But hey, that's modding for you.

The whole experiment is part of a larger quest to mod GTA 5 into a PC version of GTA 6—or break it entirely. The author is documenting their daily modding adventures, so there's more chaos to come.

For now, the jetpack fills a nostalgic hole that San Andreas fans have felt for years. It's not a perfect process, but it's a step toward making GTA 5 feel a bit more like the classic. And who knows? Maybe one day we'll get an official jetpack in GTA 6. Until then, modders are doing the heavy lifting.

What do you think? Will you be installing the Aerowing mod, or are you holding out for an official jetpack? Let us know in the comments!
