Dark Link Revealed in New Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Trailers

Did you catch that? Nintendo just dropped two new Japanese TV spots for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, and they give us our very first look at Dark Link in the Switch 2 exclusive.

The trailers are brief, but they pack a punch. We see the shadowy doppelgänger in action during his iconic Water Temple fight—the one in that fog-filled room with shallow water and a dead tree in the center. In the clip, Dark Link leaks onto Link's sword and looks down menacingly at our hero. If you played the original, you know this battle is one of the most memorable in the entire game.

For those who need a refresher: Dark Link is a mirror-image version of Link who serves as the mini-boss of the Water Temple. His name even mirrors your save file name (as registered by Navi), and his total health scales dynamically to match the exact number of Heart Containers you have at that moment. It's a brilliant touch that makes the fight feel personal every time.

But Dark Link isn't the only thing worth highlighting. These two videos also show big bad guy Ganondorf playing an organ, Link playing his Ocarina, the cutscene where Link finally gets the Master Sword, and plenty more. Honestly, if you've never played Ocarina of Time before, these trailers veer into spoiler territory—especially since we see some endgame footage. Consider this your spoiler warning.

As a huge fan of the original, I'm not too worried about spoilers myself, but it's worth keeping in mind if you're going in fresh. The remake is shaping up to be something special, and these brief glimpses are just the tip of the iceberg.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. While you wait, you can check out IGN's extensive hands-on preview and a roundup of all the changes we've noticed compared to the N64 masterpiece. There's also a special episode of Nintendo Voice Chat where they dive deeper into the Zelda preview.

What do you think of Dark Link's new look? Will you be picking this up when it launches? Let us know in the comments!
