World of Warcraft Could Be Console-Bound After Xbox Controller Support Leak

Ever since Xbox acquired Blizzard, you've probably been wondering: when will World of Warcraft finally come to consoles? Well, it might be sooner than you think.

At BlizzCon 2026, attendees got hands-on with the newly announced World of Warcraft: Forever. And guess what they found? A brand-new "gamepad option" tucked inside the game. According to reports from the show floor, this feature is currently in an "alpha state," and the team is actively looking for feedback on it. That's a pretty big hint that Blizzard is testing the waters for a console version.

For years, WoW has been a PC-only affair, with its complex interface and countless abilities seemingly tied to a keyboard and mouse. But with Xbox now owning Blizzard, the idea of a console port has gone from pipe dream to plausible. And this discovery at BlizzCon only adds fuel to the fire.

The fact that Blizzard is asking for feedback suggests they're serious about making it work. An alpha-state gamepad option means it's early days, but it's a concrete step toward bringing Azeroth to your living room. Could we see WoW on Xbox Series X|S soon? Maybe even on Game Pass?
