Did you ever play Crimson Desert and think, 'This is great, but I wish I could build a ship, sail to new islands, ride an orca, and then settle down and get married'? Well, you're in luck. Pearl Abyss has just dropped an overview trailer for the game's upcoming DLC, Charting the Unknown, and it is absolutely packed with new features.
Crimson Desert has had a wild ride since launch. Fans loved it, but critics pointed out that the story was a bit lacking—something even the studio's CEO admitted. To their credit, Pearl Abyss has been updating the game like it's a live service, addressing criticisms and adding new content all year, culminating in a massive Enhanced edition update. Now, they're going even bigger with this expansion.
After a short two-week delay, Charting the Unknown is set to launch next week on October 29. And as the title suggests, the DLC is all about exploring the unknown. You'll head out to sea in search of new islands, each featuring fresh missions and enemy factions. If you're feeling ambitious, you can even turn these islands into strongholds for Kliff to establish.
Sailing is a huge part of the expansion, naturally. You'll be able to create your own custom ship and engage in naval combat. But the fun doesn't stop at the water's surface—underwater, you can ride stingrays, turtles, and orcas while hunting for treasure. It's like a whole new game down there.
Back on land, Kliff's home is getting a major upgrade. The new house customization looks like it's ripped straight out of The Sims, letting you personalize your space to your heart's content. And if that wasn't enough, you can now romance your companions and even get married. Yes, really.
In true Crimson Desert fashion, there's a ton to do here. If you've been holding off on jumping into the game, this might be the perfect time to start. With so many new features, the DLC is shaping up to be a massive addition that could keep you busy for hours.
What do you think of all these new features? Will you be picking up Charting the Unknown when it launches on October 29? Let us know in the comments!
