GONE Fishing 1.0 Out Now: Co-op Horror Fishing That Costs Less Than $5

Ever fancy a fishing trip where the catch might not be the only thing on the menu? That's basically the pitch for GONE Fishing, the multiplayer fishing survival horror from GONE Studios, and it just hit its 1.0 launch on Steam.

The setup is simple but nasty. You and your buddies head out to the sea or a lake and fish — there are over a hundred species to chase. But this is no chill fishing sim. Every day you have to offer a set number of your catches to a monster lurking in the lake, and that thing has an endless appetite. Miss the quota, and the monster will happily snack on one of your friends instead.

And the monster isn't the only thing you need to worry about. While you're exploring and fishing, you have to stay on your toes — the waters and the surrounding environment are crawling with strange mutated creatures, giant beasts and predators just waiting for a chance to strike.

Your haul isn't only tribute fodder, either. The game packs in plenty of systems for putting extra fish to work: grill them, smoke them, grow pearls inside shells, or even take them to a casino and use them as chips for a lucky spin. Leftovers can also be sold to merchants scattered around the map for cash, which you can spend on gear upgrades or stronger items.

If you've been holding off, now's a good time to jump in. GONE Fishing first entered early access back in June 2025, and the official patch notes say the 1.0 version adds an ending, a brand-new fishing progression system, more fish types, bait, traps and fun hats, plus a bunch of balance tweaks and bug fixes.

So grab your rod, keep one eye on the water and one on your teammates — someone's got to keep the monster fed. Will you be picking this up with your crew?
