Wardogs Season 2: Blue Team Gets Paid to Play

Bulkhead is offering in-game cash and XP bonuses to players who pick Blue team in Wardogs Season 2, aiming to fix the team's low win rate and player avoidance.

Wardogs Season 2: Blue Team Gets Paid to Play

Ever avoided picking a team in a game because you heard it's cursed? In Wardogs, that's Blue team—but Season 2 is about to change that with cold hard cash.

Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer announced in the "Road to Season 2" devlog that Blue team will get "Lonestar cash and XP bonus" in Season 2, exclusively. The goal? To boost the win rate of a team that players have been dodging like the plague. Brammer admitted, "We're looking at how we can help the win rate of a certain team."

It's no secret that Blue has been the least popular pick. Players often idle on the selection screen for minutes, waiting for a slot on Green or Red to open up. Why? Partly practical issues: lackluster camouflage and unfavorable spawn points. Season 2 is tackling the Bakurani spawn, but the bonuses are meant to counter another problem: Blue's reputation as the team to avoid. As I noted last month, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy—one bad night with Lonestar leads to a belief that Blue sucks, and soon the team is filled with less experienced players.

XP and cash bribes are a drastic move, but they should have a real impact. It's unclear how big these boosts will be, but I'd bet Blue instantly becomes the most popular team in Season 2. Though, I wonder if the problem was already sorting itself out. Lately, I've noticed the Blue bias dying down. They're still mostly losing in my NA West servers, but they're scoring points and competing. I've even been on a couple of winning Blue teams—believe it or not.

Season 2 is shaping up to be bigger than expected. The October 15 patch adds new guns, vehicles, rainy weather on all maps, and more to be revealed in next week's patch notes. It also marks the game's first progression wipe—everyone's going back to level 1.

So, will you be switching to Blue for that cash and XP? Or are you sticking with your favorite team? Let us know in the comments!
