GTA 6 Soundtrack Gets Vinyl Release, But Game Stays Digital

Did you ever think you'd be able to hold a piece of GTA 6 in your hands before the game itself? Well, Rockstar just made that a reality—sort of. The studio has officially announced Grand Theft Auto 6: The Album, a 34-song collection featuring original music from the likes of Keith Richards, Yung Lean, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, and more. And yes, it's getting a physical release, even though the game won't.

Rockstar is teaming up with Atlantic Records for the album, which drops on November 19—the same day GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. But while the game is a digital exclusive, the soundtrack will be available on "multiple vinyl and CD" versions at retailers. So if you're a collector, you can actually own a piece of GTA 6 history on a disc. The game itself? Not so much.

If you can't wait until November, Rockstar has already released six debut singles that you can stream right now. The list includes Yung Lean's "That's It" featuring Future and Metro Boomin, Travis Scott's "RHYNO" produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and a collab track "Sexy Magic" from CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.. & Etienne de Crécy. Morgan Wallen's "Last Thing You Need," Rauw Alejandro's "Macacoa 2000," and Keith Richards' "Bright Lights, Big City" round out the initial drop. That's a pretty eclectic mix, right?

Preorders for the album are open now, and there are a few options depending on your budget. The limited-edition vinyl will set you back $125 and comes with two transparent magenta discs "filled with blue liquid." If that's too rich for your blood, the standard vinyl is $50, and a CD version is $20. The limited edition definitely looks like a conversation piece—perfect for displaying next to your console.

But wait, there's more. Rockstar teased that fans can expect further music-related announcements soon. "Stay tuned for more details about the music of Grand Theft Auto VI, including the dynamic score, the next evolution of in-game radio, and more," the studio said. Given that music has always been a huge part of the GTA series, with countless in-game radio stations featuring licensed tracks, it's no surprise they're going all out for the sixth main entry.

Rumors have been swirling about who might host those in-game stations. Previously, it was speculated that DJ Khaled could have his own station, and Drake might too. While those are just rumors for now, the star-studded soundtrack album certainly adds fuel to the fire. Plus, the album announcement came right after several famous artists posted teasers hinting at something big, so the hype train is definitely rolling.

Of course, the game itself is expected to be a massive hit, but not everyone is celebrating. Anyone who bought stock in Rockstar's parent company is currently hurting, according to recent reports. Still, for fans, the promise of new music and a physical collectible is something to look forward to.
