Steam Leak Spills Achievements for Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and More

Ever had a game spoiled for you before it even came out? Well, that's exactly what's happening right now with some of the most anticipated titles on the horizon. A massive Steam leak has spilled the beans on hundreds of achievements for upcoming games, including Kingdom Hearts 4, Persona 6, and even Fable.

According to Exophase, a website that tracks achievements across Steam, Epic Games Store, and more, achievement lists for numerous in-development games were recently uploaded and made public. It appears the site's trackers scraped all the achievements that were uploaded to Steam recently, resulting in potential story spoilers and the reveal of several unannounced—or canceled—titles. "Seems like a possible screw-up on Valve's end, a bunch of games with achievements that should be private are accessible through the API right now, and that's why they got scanned into the site," Exophase owner Mike Bendel (aka x3sphere) wrote in a ResetEra post. "I usually never see games without an actual name pop up with achievements, yet over the past hour or so, a bunch have (when there's an unknown name, we just set it to the AppID)."

It's worth noting that many of these achievement lists appear to be incomplete due to the use of placeholder text, but many of them are rife with spoilers. While we won't mention them here, the leak has revealed more of the Disney-themed worlds that players can travel to in Kingdom Hearts 4, and story details for Persona 6 have surfaced. People are, of course, digging deep into the list, so if you're looking to go into any particular game without fear of spoilers, it might be time to start muting certain keywords before it's released.

This isn't the first time Steam has been responsible for leaking data. Last month, a security breach saw 13TB of information on unreleased games and prototypes uploaded to online spaces and made available for download. This leak covered games uploaded to Steam between 2003 and 2013, including pre-release builds of major games from the era, such as Spore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and an early Portal 2 prototype.

So, what do you think? Are you worried about spoilers for these highly anticipated games, or are you diving headfirst into the leak? Let us know in the comments!
