Aion 2's Routines Are Starting to Click

Our columnist's Aion 2 journey continues as the Spiritmaster's combat and progression systems slowly start making sense after a confusing first week.

Aion 2's Routines Are Starting to Click

Ever booted up an MMO and felt like it was speaking a language you almost understood? That's been the vibe with Aion 2 lately, and this week the pieces are finally starting to fall into place.

Last week, our adventurer openly admitted that Aion 2 was confounding in a few ways. The Spiritmaster's combat looked like it had layers, yet it still felt very simple in practice. There were progression systems that seemed possibly interesting, but the mobile game-like presentation and management were a real turn-off.

Now the routines are beginning to slowly settle in. That's the headline from this latest Choose My Adventure entry — the early friction is easing, and what once felt confusing is starting to feel like a rhythm you can actually follow.

That shift matters more than it sounds. In any MMO, the first few sessions are often a tug-of-war between what the game wants you to do and what you expect it to do. When the routine clicks, you stop fighting the interface and start actually playing.

For the Spiritmaster specifically, that means the class's layered combat no longer reads as simple on the surface. The progression systems that looked intriguing from a distance are getting a real chance to prove themselves, even if the mobile-style presentation and management still linger in the background.

The takeaway for anyone eyeing Aion 2: give it more than one session. What feels confounding in week one can start to make sense once the routines take hold. It's not an overnight conversion, but it's progress.

What do you think — does an MMO need to click immediately, or is a slow settle-in part of the charm? Will you be sticking with Aion 2 long enough to find out?
