Witcher 3's Bloody Baron Writer Returns to CDPR After 10 Years

Remember the Bloody Baron quest in The Witcher 3? That gut-wrenching storyline that had you questioning every choice? Well, the writer behind it, Karolina Stachyra, is back at CD Projekt Red after a 10-year absence.

Stachyra originally worked at CDPR as a senior writer on The Witcher 3 from 2012 to 2016. According to her LinkedIn, she helped shape the main storyline and designed some of the game's greatest questlines—including Bloody Baron, which many fans consider the best quest in the entire game. She also created a good chunk of expansion content, like the Dead Man's Party quest.

Now, she's returning as an "expert writer." Her profile says she started at CDPR in February this year as a freelance consultant, then stepped into her new role in August. She hasn't specified which projects she's working on, so it might not be The Witcher 4—there's a small chance she's contributed to The Witcher 3 Remastered or Songs of the Past, given the timing.

Still, it's exciting news. Stachyra's return marks yet another talented arrival at the studio. Back in May, CDPR welcomed senior Kingdom Come: Deliverance designer and writer Zdeněk Glatz. Before that, they brought in other Warhorse Studios veterans, an ex-Baldur's Gate 3 dev, a former Mass Effect lead, and more—over 220 new developers in total.

The future looks bright for CD Projekt Red. They've got The Witcher 4 in the works, plus Cyberpunk 2 and other mysterious new titles. It's a brilliant time to be an RPG fan, that's for sure.
