Diablo: Unbound Board Game Brings Sanctuary to Your Table

Ever wanted to battle the demons of Sanctuary without staring at a screen? Glass Cannon Unplugged is making that happen with Diablo: Unbound, a new cooperative dungeon battler for 1-4 players.

The studio, known for tabletop adaptations of Don't Starve, Dying Light, and Apex Legends, announced the game today. It's launching a campaign on Gamefound, and the game itself is set to launch in Q1 2027. If you're heading to Spiel Essen this week, you can try an early build at the Glass Cannon Unplugged booth in Hall I.

So what's the deal? You and up to three friends pick a class (like the Rogue or Barbarian), choose a dungeon, and fight through hordes of monsters to take down a boss. The trailer shows off miniatures, player boards, and a hex grid map that suggests tactical movement will be key. You'll level up and gear out your champion as you go.

There's a lot to dig into if you're a board game mechanics nerd. Your special abilities and actions seem tied to a deck of cards—great news for deck-building fans. The player boards have slots for armor pieces, including chest, left and right weapon slots, helm, ring, and necklace, with spots even for gems. And skills appear to be double-sided with base and upgraded versions, similar to the Slay the Spire board game. Better stock up on card sleeves.

Details are still scarce, but the trailer already teases some neat systems. If you're into boss battlers and dungeon crawlers, this is one to watch. And if you follow the Gamefound campaign, you can claim a free Gamefound Exclusive Treasure Goblin Expansion.
