New Cat Species Found Before GTA 6 Finally Arrives

Ever feel like you've been waiting for GTA 6 since the dawn of time? Well, you're not alone. Since Rockstar started development back in 2015, the world has changed a lot, and now we can add a brand-new species of cat to the list of things that happened before GTA 6.

The discovery was published this week in the scientific journal Current Biology. The new species is called Leopardus tilcayo, also known as the tilcayo tiger cat. It's smaller than your average housecat, with spots and round ears, and it was found in the Bolivian Yungas forest. According to the report, this is the first new cat species discovered in over 100 years.

Here's the wild part: the cat was basically found by accident. Paola Nogales-Ascarrunz, a co-author of the report, told NBC News that she volunteers at a wildlife rehab facility near La Paz, Bolivia. A man brought in a tiny cat he'd been caring for, feeding it rice and eggs, but he couldn't keep it anymore. Nogales-Ascarrunz thought it was just a kitten at first. Genetic testing later revealed it was an entirely new species never before documented. It's still unknown how many of these cats remain in the wild.

Meanwhile, the gaming world keeps spinning. The good news? The wait is nearly over. GTA 6 is scheduled to release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. One catch: the game won't ship on a disc. But if you really want a disc with GTA 6 printed on it, you can buy the game's soundtrack. Not quite the same, but hey, it's something.
