Ever wondered what's next for RuneScape? At this year's Runefest, Jagex dropped a treasure trove of news for its flagship MMO, and it looks like 2027 is going to be massive. The studio revealed plans that include remastering efforts, new story arcs, fresh activities, and even a brand-new character type called Reignited. If you're a longtime player or just diving back in, there's plenty to get excited about.
First up, the storytelling. Jagex is rolling out three new story arcs for RuneScape, which means your adventures in Gielinor are far from over. While exact details on the plots are still under wraps, the sheer number of arcs suggests a year packed with narrative twists and turns. Whether you're a lore hound or just love a good quest, this should keep you busy.
But that's not all—the team is also working on remastering efforts. That's right, some classic content is getting a fresh coat of paint. While we don't know exactly which parts are being remastered, it's a clear sign that Jagex wants to honor the game's history while making it more enjoyable for modern players. Nostalgia meets new-school polish.
On top of that, there are new activities coming. Again, specifics are scarce, but the promise of new things to do is always welcome. Whether it's skilling, combat, or something entirely different, it sounds like there will be more ways to spend your time in-game.
And then there's the Reignited character type. That's a new addition that could shake up how you play. We don't have details yet on what Reignited entails, but it's clearly a major feature Jagex is hyping. Could it be a new class, a prestige system, or something else entirely? Only time will tell.
Of course, RuneScape wasn't the only game at Runefest—Jagex also had news for its other titles, and even teased a fourth game. But for now, RuneScape fans have a lot to look forward to in 2027. With remasters, new stories, activities, and the mysterious Reignited type, the future looks bright.
What do you think of these plans? Are you excited for the remastering efforts, or are you more curious about the Reignited character type? Let us know in the comments!
