Are you ready to clear out half your Xbox's storage just for one game? Because it sounds like you might have to. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is shaping up to be an absolute unit when it comes to download size, and your SSD is already sweating.
According to director Naoki Hamaguchi in a new interview with VGC, the game will be around the 200GB mark when it launches in April 2027. That's not a typo — 200GB. For context, that's roughly double the size of many major releases, and it's enough to make even the most spacious Xbox Series X feel a little cramped.
Hamaguchi also explained why the game can't ship entirely on one or even two discs. With that kind of footprint, physical media simply can't hold it all. So even if you buy a boxed copy, you're still going to be downloading a hefty chunk. Welcome to the digital age, folks.
And it's not just Final Fantasy you need to worry about. The next few months are going to be painful for Xbox storage space in general. We've got GTA 6 and Fable on the way, and those are surely going to be well over the 100GB mark — and then some. Stack them all together, and you're looking at a serious storage crisis.
So what does this mean for you? If you're planning to pick up Final Fantasy VII Revelation, you might want to start thinking about an expansion card or an external drive. Or maybe it's finally time to delete that backlog you've been ignoring for years. Either way, preparation is key.
