A new patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 early access addresses DMZ progression bugs and overly aggressive enemy AI, ahead of the full launch on October 23.

Modern Warfare 4 Early Access Patch Fixes DMZ Progression and Aggressive AI

Have you been diving into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 early access and noticed something off in DMZ? You're not alone. The devs have rolled out a fresh patch to tackle some of the most annoying issues players have been facing.

First up, enemy AI in DMZ has been toned down in a couple of key areas. Apparently, enemies were getting a little too hands-on—literally—by bowling players over during infil. And if you thought getting downed was bad, imagine enemies creeping into places they shouldn't while you're helpless on the ground. Both of those frustrations are now fixed.

Progression also got some much-needed love. Remember that disappointing moment when you finished your first match and were told you earned a whopping zero experience? Yeah, that's been rectified. No more zero-XP letdowns. Additionally, there was a bug where only the player who actually landed the killing blow on a Commander would get credit for the 'King Slayer' calling card—even if you were in a squad. That felt a bit rude, but now everyone in the squad should get the XP they deserve.

The patch also addresses numerous smaller issues, like visual glitches and minor mechanical wrinkles. And for you campaign players, there's a single fix: progression was being stifled during the Counter Attack mission, specifically in the hotel section. That's all sorted now, though you might not have noticed it anyway.

Keep in mind, the game isn't even fully out yet—this is just early access. So expect more patches in the coming days as Activision and Infinity Ward fine-tune the experience ahead of the full launch on October 23.

What do you think of these changes? Have you encountered any of these issues in DMZ? Let us know in the comments!
