The Blood of Dawnwalker Sequel: 6 Big Questions We Need Answered

Just finished The Blood of Dawnwalker and already itching for more? You're not alone. The game is a thrilling RPG, but it leaves a bunch of loose threads dangling, and we're already imagining what the sequel might tackle. Developer Rebel Wolves has hinted at a "saga," so let's dive into six pressing questions we need answered in The Blood of Dawnwalker 2.

First up: what's Lacra's deal with the Arbiters and the Council of Augurs? At the end of the game, Coen gets a nasty surprise when a hooded man—an Arbiter—shows up, claiming to be a fellow Dawnwalker sent by a mysterious organization called the Council of Augurs. Apparently, Lacra might be one of them too. The Arbiter says the only cure for Lunka, Coen's feral half-vampire sister, is to transform her into a proper vrakhir, and he wants Coen to come along. Somewhere. With so many unanswered questions—what is an Arbiter? Who is the Council and what do they want?—we're going to need that sequel ASAP.

Next, what happened to Coen's mother? We know Esme suffered a terrible trauma that caused a break from reality, and while we get glimpses of what might have contributed—the death of Coen's little brother Alin, her husband Pieter's past as a merc-for-hire—there's clearly more to the story. Even if we never meet Esme and Pieter again, we hope Rebel Wolves isn't done with the Laslea clan's lore. After all, Coen has little sister Lunka in tow, and even a vrakhiri child will want to know where she came from. Some of the best missions in the game offer insights into Coen's family history, so we're hungry for more.

Then there's the confusing title. Every games journalist has grumbled about it—Coen is the Dawnwalker, so why isn't it Blood of the Dawnwalker? We got a hint during The Monk and the Saint mission, where we learn the old Saint was a Dawnwalker himself. It's clear Dawnwalkers have been around for some time. If Coen isn't Patient Zero, perhaps there's a primordial being who is the Dawnwalker? But with Dawnwalkers aging, albeit slowly, that being is likely long dead. Unless it was St. Mihai, and we just killed him. The sequel could dig deeper into Dawnwalker history.

What about the 30-day timer? Rebel Wolves has already admitted it might not return in a sequel. The timer counts down to Brencis' coronation and the day Coen's family meets a grisly end unless he stops it. It's a great way to add urgency, and it's become a unique selling point—a novel quirk that gets people talking. If Rebel Wolves does away with it, they'll need another clever way to add friction to Coen's next adventure.

Will our "invited" guests stay for long? As we slay Brencis' court, we can choose to invite the defeated vrakhiri into our minds to save them from Anachora—vampire hell—or leave them to be torn apart. If you welcomed everyone, including Brencis and Isbrand, you got some amusing epilogue comments. But it begs the question: will we be stuck with this constant chorus for the rest of the saga? And can Isbrand be a bit less shouty?

Finally, will any romance interests show face again? With Dawnwalker set to span a "saga," it's likely we'll see some familiar faces. But which ones? That's a question we can't wait to have answered.

What do you think? Are you hoping for a sequel? Let us know in the comments!
