Sony just dropped the October lineup for PS Plus Essential, and it's a pretty mixed bag that should have something for just about everyone.
The highlight for many will be Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space... wait, no—the actual title on the list is the quirky Earth Defense Force spinoff that fans have been curious about. It's joined by a couple of other titles that round out a diverse month.
But that's not all. Sony also slipped in a little surprise for Spider-Man fans: a PSN avatar based on Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. If you're a PS Plus member, you'll be able to grab it alongside your free games.
The full October PlayStation Plus monthly games will be available from October 6 to November 2, so you've got a solid window to claim them. As always, once you add them to your library, they're yours to keep as long as you stay subscribed.
It's worth noting that this lineup is for the Essential tier, which is the base level of PS Plus. If you're on Extra or Premium, you'll still get these games, plus whatever else Sony has in store for those tiers later in the month.
We don't have the complete list of titles just yet—Sony tends to roll out announcements gradually—but we'll update this story as soon as more details land. For now, mark your calendars for October 6 and get ready to hit that download button.
What do you think of the October lineup so far? Are you excited for the Spider-Man avatar, or were you hoping for something a bit meatier? Let us know in the comments!
