Ready to punch a dinosaur while dodging a mech? FEROCIOUS is officially stomping its way onto Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S next week, and it's bringing plenty of prehistoric (and mechanical) trouble with it.
The news dropped via the official Xbox Wire blog, confirming a surprise release date announcement for the survival FPS. If you've been sleeping on this one, here's the pitch: you're dropped into a vibrant yet hostile ecosystem where you'll face mercenaries, dinosaurs, and mechas. Yes, all three at once. Good luck.
Before it hit PC, FEROCIOUS built up a serious amount of hype, largely because the concept of a survival shooter mixing mercenaries, dinosaurs, and mechs is exactly the kind of chaotic energy a lot of us crave. It's the sort of game that sounds like it was ripped straight out of a childhood action-figure battle, but with way better graphics.
That said, the PC launch ended up landing with a "Mixed" reception on Steam. Not the warmest welcome, but here's the interesting part: recent reviews have climbed to "Mostly Positive." That suggests the game may have found its footing after some post-launch attention, or that players who stuck with it discovered something worth sticking around for.
So what does that mean for you as an Xbox player? Well, you're getting the version of FEROCIOUS that's had time to simmer. If you're into survival shooters that throw a little bit of everything at you, this could be a sleeper pick worth watching when it lands next week.
The mix of dinosaurs and mechs isn't exactly a crowded genre, either. Plenty of games give you one or the other, but FEROCIOUS wants you to deal with mercs, wildlife, and heavy machinery all in the same hostile world. That's a recipe for some memorable, messy moments.
We don't have an exact day yet beyond "next week," but the announcement came straight from Xbox Wire, so it's about as official as it gets. Keep an eye on the store page and get your trigger finger ready.
Will you be picking up FEROCIOUS when it hits Xbox, or are you waiting to see how the console version performs first? What do you think?
