Ready to jump back into Midgard without the grind? RO仙境傳說:口袋戰記, the new officially licensed RO MMORPG from Gravity, has just opened pre-download on PC, the App Store, and Google Play, and it goes live across all platforms on October 23. Even better, a City Hunter crossover kicks off the same day.
The game leans hard into a cute hand-drawn collage art style, giving the classic RO world a fresh look. The story picks up as Midgard is reborn and monsters start stirring again, so a new round of adventurer exams is underway. Hop on the hot air balloon and your adventure begins.
What really sets it apart is the "no-pressure" approach. You can swap classes on the fly just by changing weapons, mixing skills and builds however you like. And if you're worried about the grind, the game supports up to 12 hours of offline earnings, so you keep stacking EXP and resources while you sleep or work. Classic MVPs like Baphomet, Golden Thief Bug, and Angelring are all there for group fights, with rare cards and gear drops to chase. Beat a big boss and you can even capture it as your own "King Pet" to tag along. Loot flows freely too, with tax-free trading and easy resource swaps with friends.
The City Hunter collab runs from October 23 to November 21 and rolls out in two phases. Phase one, "XYZ Hunt," uses a Monopoly-style board where you roll dice to take on XYZ combat requests and collect gacha coins for crossover items. The map features classic spots like the café and detective agency, and you can team up with friends to share progress and clear stages together. Phase two will add a City Hunter-exclusive class, with Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makimura arriving in Midgard. City Hunter, by the way, is Tsukasa Hojo's legendary manga that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1985 to 1991 and hit its 40th anniversary on February 26, 2025.
Launch perks are stacked, too. Log in and you get class-specific mounts that change with your weapon, and refining gear to +10 has a 100 percent success rate at every stage. The "Refer a Friend" event hands out over 1,000 cards, with a shot at a full MINI card set. There's also a guild competition for the title of strongest guild, plus a salary-day event where daily quests and logins earn RO Coins with matching coins dropped into a savings jar for double rewards. RO Coins can be traded for goodies or bid on physical convenience-store cards and game point cards in limited auctions.
Devs are also staying in touch through in-game and YouTube shows like "South Gate Chat Club" and "Hey Planner! What Are You Doing," sharing fixes, version updates, and hands-on footage. Pre-download is live now, so will you be hopping into Midgard on day one?
