Silent Hill: Townfall just couldn't wait for its own launch. A PS5 physical copy of the game broke street date, and an Italian YouTuber apparently got their hands on it early — then went live with it.

According to a report from Notebookcheck, the leak came in the form of three videos totaling about 87 minutes of footage. If you were hoping to go in blind, well, that ship has sailed for some of it. The videos have since been hit with copyright complaints and taken down, but you know how the internet works — nothing ever really disappears.

So what did the footage show? Based on the leaked gameplay and early impressions, Townfall leans into a balance between exploration, investigation, and combat. The game is played from a first-person perspective, which the person who got early access said ramps up the immersion considerably. Fair warning though: some of the puzzles are apparently complex enough to frustrate players who just want to keep fighting. If you're the type who likes to slow down and poke around, this might be more your speed.

Konami had actually already given some streamers early hands-on time with the game, showing off more of how it plays. One key item lets you investigate your surroundings, scan for potential dangers, and dig up important clues tied to the disaster that hit the town. Sounds like a handy tool when things get creepy.

For those who need a refresher: Silent Hill: Townfall was previously announced for a September 24 release on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It's being developed by Screen Burn Interactive, with Konami and Annapurna Interactive co-publishing. It's one of several new entries in the Silent Hill series, this one going full first-person psychological horror.

The story takes place on the Scottish island of St. Amelia, where you'll explore the town's secrets while facing unknown threats and your own psychological fears. Konami previously said the campaign should run about 10 to 14 hours.

With launch only days away, that leaked footage could very well contain story spoilers, so tread carefully if you're trying to avoid them. Keep your eyes peeled and maybe mute a few keywords for the next week.
