Witcher 3 Remastered: How to Transmog Gear and Give Geralt a New Look

Ever wanted Geralt to look like a true monster-slaying fashion icon? The Witcher 3 Remastered finally lets you do just that with its new Transmog feature. This handy system lets you "Reforge" your weapons and armor so they look like any other piece of gear you've found, all without messing with their stats. So if you've got some powerful Mastercrafted Witcher gear but hate its look, you can make it appear as something else entirely.

But there's a catch: only two NPCs in the entire game offer this service, and unlocking them isn't a walk in the park. To transmog armor, you'll need to visit Yoana in Crow's Perch, Velen. For weapons, it's Hattori in Novigrad Docks. Both are Master Blacksmiths, and both require you to complete their respective side quest chains first. Those quests have a recommended level of 24, so you'll need to be well-prepared.

Starting Yoana's quest chain is straightforward. Head to Crow's Perch in Velen and speak to Fergus Graem, the local smith. Tell him you're looking for a Master Armorer, and you'll kick off the quest "Master Armorers." For Hattori, you can ask any weaponsmith about finding a Master Swordsmith, or go directly to the Dumpling Restaurant in Novigrad. It's located in the open plaza halfway between the Novigrad Docks and the Gate of the Heirarch fast travel points. The first quest in his chain is called "Of Swords and Dumplings."

Once you've unlocked them, simply speak to either smith and choose the Reforge option. In the menu, you'll first pick the item you want to transmog, then select another item in your inventory that you want it to look like. Confirm and pay the required cost, and voilà—your gear has a brand new appearance. There are some limitations (you can't turn trousers into shoes, for example), but any chestpiece can be made to look like any other chestpiece you own, with zero stat changes.

The only downside is that you need both the item you want to wear and the one you want it to look like in your inventory when you visit the smith. So before you head out, make good use of your stash to bring everything you need. If you're new to the game or returning after a long break, this feature is a great way to personalize Geralt's look without sacrificing power.
