Red Desert 2.03 Patch: DLSS Ray Reconstruction Gets Transformer Upgrade

Red Desert just dropped its 2.03.00 patch on September 18, and while it's mostly a bug-squashing, stability-boosting kind of update, there's one change that's going to make PC players sit up straight.

The headline act? NVIDIA Streamline SDK has been bumped up to version 2.14.14, and DLSS Ray Reconstruction now runs on the latest Transformer model. If you've been playing on PC, you already know Red Desert supports DLSS 4/4.5 and FSR 3/4, but swapping Ray Reconstruction over to the Transformer model should give ray-traced visuals a nice bump in both image quality and stability. Worth firing up the game just to see the difference.

On the gameplay side, the patch fixes something that probably annoyed a lot of returning players: when you inherit an old save and start a new game, silver coins above 1,000 now get handed out as stackable silver instead. Photo mode also gets a precise movement feature, so you can fine-tune those shots way more easily.

A bunch of quest and combat bugs got cleaned up too. Horse racing opponents were apparently a little too fast, some waiting quests were completing instantly, and battle quests could get cancelled after loading a save. All of that should be sorted now. The patch also fixes the QTE prompt and key binding when a bear grabs you, plus those frustrating moments where you lose control in certain quests or your character gets stuck using an item while on horseback.

Movement got some love as well. You can now jump while running on water, and if you've got water-walking gear equipped, you can glide straight from a water run. The team also fixed a bug where dismounting an ATAG in mid-air caused excessive fall damage.

UI-wise, the update tackles text jitter when scrolling through menus and some text display errors, improves localization quality across multiple languages, and reduces visual noise on indoor armor. The devs noted this update includes bug fixes for multiple languages and thanked players for their patience.

Red Desert is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Have you tried the new patch yet? Let us know what you think in the comments!
