WoW: Forever Hides 12,500+ Items from Dataminers

Ever jumped into a beta and felt like you knew everything before launch? That's not happening with WoW: Forever. Blizzard is keeping over 12,500 items completely hidden from dataminers, and it's making the game's discovery feel like a real adventure again.

The beta is in full swing, and players are already digging into new dungeons, abilities, and a whole new playable race. But here's the twist: according to Icy Veins, almost 40% of the game's nearly 32,000 items are secret. Dataminers can see these items exist and even guess where they come from, but their actual stats are locked away. Many are assumed to be brand-new, while others might be variants of WoW Classic gear.

So far, players have uncovered over 4,400 of those hidden items just by playing the beta. Once an item is discovered, it gets revealed in the game's backend. That means every dungeon run or raid could spill new secrets. Early loot tables for dungeons like Wailing Caverns, Ragefire Chasm, Shadowfang Keep, and the Deadmines have already been partially mapped out, including some low-level dungeon sets.

But not everything datamined will make it into Forever. Icy Veins points out that some items from WoW Classic's Season of Discovery might not carry over. Still, the mystery is part of the fun. The beta's level cap is currently 20, but it'll rise to 30 before the beta ends on October 21, so expect even more loot to surface.

Blizzard is clearly mixing things up to make both leveling and endgame feel fresh. With over 1,000 new quests, new zones, and endgame content, this third version of WoW is shaping up to be massive. The full launch is set for November 4.

The beta itself has been wildly popular. Multiple devs, including Blizzard VP Holly Longdale, have said it's breaking player-number records, forcing Blizzard to raise the population cap. But it hasn't been all smooth sailing—a recent streamer scandal involving gold trading has players demanding stronger action against real-money transactions and gold buying.
