Sony Wants a New Fate Game, But TYPE-MOON Holds the Cards

Could a brand-new Fate game be on the horizon? Sony's Aniplex says it's definitely thinking about it — but the final call belongs to TYPE-MOON.

According to Final Weapon, the details came out during a closed-door media Q&A for Fate/Extra Remake at TGS2026. When asked whether a completely new Fate series game would follow the remake, Aniplex staff said there's no confirmed project greenlit just yet, but a new entry is a direction they're actively weighing. Whether it actually happens, though, is up to TYPE-MOON. At this stage, they also can't say what form a new game would take — a visual novel, an RPG, or something else entirely is still up in the air.

That's a pretty honest answer, and honestly a familiar one for Fate fans. The series has bounced across genres for years, so pinning down what a "new Fate game" even means is half the battle. Aniplex clearly wants more, but TYPE-MOON's involvement is the deciding factor — which makes sense, since it's their world and their call.

On the other side of the coin, there's less encouraging news for Fate/EXTRA CCC fans. The team confirmed that no decision has been made regarding a port, remake, or HD remaster of the game. CCC has never been released in other languages, and overseas players have been hoping for years that it would finally land on modern platforms. Sadly, there's no good news to share on that front right now.

That's a tough pill to swallow if you've been waiting on CCC. It's one of those titles that's stayed locked away from a big chunk of the fanbase, and every event like this brings a fresh round of "maybe this time?" — followed by the same answer. For now, the door isn't closed, but it's definitely not open either.

So where does that leave things? A new Fate game is possible, but not confirmed. A CCC revival is wanted, but not decided. Both hinge on decisions that haven't been made yet, and Aniplex isn't pretending otherwise.
