Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Edgerunners 2 Prequel Quest

Ready to dive back into Night City? Cyberpunk 2077's 2.5 update is dropping tomorrow, October 22, and it's packing a surprise for Edgerunners fans.

The headline addition is a brand-new quest that serves as a prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2. CD Projekt Red kept details under wraps during the latest REDStreams to avoid spoilers, but they did confirm it follows the last job of Weak Kingsley's team. Even better, the quest features voice actors from the show—which likely means Clancy Brown, the voice of Mr. Krabs, will appear in the game. The quest was created alongside members of the anime's team, so expect it to feel authentically Edgerunners.

But that's not all for anime fans. A new radio station is being added, featuring 16 songs from both seasons of the Netflix series. Plus, there's a Night City Tours activity narrated by Richard Night himself, with the devs teasing some mysterious happenings along the way.

On the gameplay side, the biggest news is mod support coming to consoles—PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2—similar to what The Witcher 3 Remastered did. It'll be handled through Mod.io, and Paweł Sasko confirmed the new mod menu will include adult mods. Dual-wielding is also finally here, but it's limited to pistols and revolvers. These are new skills in the Cool tree, and while weapon bonuses carry over, there will be some downside that wasn't detailed.

Customization gets a boost too: you can now alter your Cyberware with 40 new looks, and five new characters called Glamdocs have been added, complete with new mocap, voice over, and distinct styles. Technical improvements include a FOV slider on consoles and various bug fixes.

CD Projekt Red will post the full patch notes when the update goes live tomorrow. With a prequel quest, new radio station, console mods, and dual-wielding, there's a lot to look forward to. Will you be jumping back into Night City for update 2.5?
