Indie dev Don Pachi's new sorting sim Waifu Curator just hit Steam Next Fest with a free demo. Restore a ransacked figure museum and reassemble 420 waifus before the November 10 launch.

Waifu Curator Free Demo Lets You Rebuild 420 Anime Figures

Ever dreamed of running your own anime figure museum? Well, now you can sort of live that dream. Indie developer Don Pachi, the mind behind the well-received Gunpla-inspired model-building game Mech Builder 3D, dropped a free demo for Waifu Curator on the first day of Steam Next Fest. The organizing sim is set to launch in full on November 10, and the demo already supports a Simplified Chinese interface.

The setup is simple but instantly relatable. You're in charge of a waifu figure museum that's been ransacked, with collectibles scattered everywhere and broken down into individual parts. Your job? Track them all down, repair them, and get every display back on its pedestal so the showroom looks pristine again. Think of it as the coziest cleanup operation you've ever signed up for.

And yes, the title is exactly what it sounds like. "Waifu" comes from the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "wife," and it refers to the anime, game, and VTuber characters fans would happily marry. Every figure in this museum is your waifu, and you can pick each one up to inspect the details. Using the museum's guide, you'll figure out which series, theme, and size it belongs to, then return it to the right exhibit area.

Loose parts add an extra layer of puzzle-solving. Before you can put anything back together, you have to identify which figure each piece belongs to. As you restore one collectible after another, the messy floors and halls gradually transform into a tidy, fully organized display space. The whole loop of hunting, sorting, assembling, and displaying is designed to be a relaxing, low-stress experience.

According to the developer, Waifu Curator packs in 420 anime figures spread across 14 themed exhibit zones. Those themes include sports, maids, gothic, idols, and furry styles, so there should be something for just about every taste. The museum also features a 1:1 life-size figure, and materials range from plastic and metal to silver, gold, and even glass. Every time you snap a model back together, you'll hear a satisfyingly crisp click.

The full version of Waifu Curator arrives on November 10, but you don't have to wait to get your hands on it. The free demo is available right now on Steam, and with Steam Next Fest in full swing, there's no better time to check it out. If you enjoyed Mech Builder 3D's hands-on building loop, this one looks like a natural next stop.

So, are you ready to roll up your sleeves and reunite 420 waifus with their rightful display stands? Will you be picking this up when it launches, or are you diving into the demo first? Let us know what you think!
