FF7 Revelation Brings Back Snowboarding, Red XIII's Ride Teased

Remember the snowboarding minigame in the original Final Fantasy 7? It's making a comeback in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, and this time, things might get a little... unconventional.

According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, the snowboarding section will be included in Revelation, and all party members will appear in it. But here's the kicker: Red XIII (Nanaki) might not be riding a snowboard. "You'll have to look forward to what he's going to be riding," Hamaguchi teased in an interview with GameSpot. "I think it's going to get a lot of attention."

If you've played Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Rebirth, you know Red XIII has a knack for stealing the spotlight. From donning a disguise for the Queen's Blood tournament to visiting his adopted family in Cosmo Canyon, he's been responsible for some of the biggest laughs and surprises in the series. So whatever he ends up riding, it's bound to be memorable.

The snowboarding minigame is accessed at the Golden Saucer, just like in the original. Hamaguchi didn't go into too many details, but he acknowledged that Square Enix knows there are a lot of "high expectations" surrounding it. With the remake trilogy aiming to end with a bang, it's clear they're pulling out all the stops.

In other news, a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation dropped during the recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast, revealing more of the game and its April 2028 release date. GameSpot also went hands-on with the game at Gamescom last month, where they got a taste of just how massive it's going to be with its expanded open-world design.

So, what do you think Red XIII will be riding? A chocobo? A Shinra bike? Something completely out of left field? Let us know in the comments!
