Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Scalped to Nearly Double Price

Nintendo's Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 sold out fast in the UK and is now fetching over £700 on eBay, nearly double its £435 retail price.

Nintendo just can't catch a break with scalpers. The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 went up for pre-order and vanished almost instantly — and now resellers are having a field day with it.

According to foreign reports, eBay is already flooded with listings for the special edition console, with some sellers pushing prices past £700. The highest asking price spotted? A eye-watering £730. For context, that's the kind of money you'd normally drop on a whole console plus a stack of games.

The console itself is a proper love letter to the series. It rocks a green color scheme with triangle patterns inspired by the iconic Triforce. Nintendo is also rolling out a matching Switch 2 Pro Controller and carrying case, so you can go full Hylian with your setup.

Here's the kicker: when pre-orders officially opened in the UK, the limited edition was priced at around £435 — just £15 more than a standard Switch 2. That's a pretty reasonable bump for a collector's item. But retail channels sold out fast, and Nintendo's official store still hasn't opened its own pre-orders or confirmed whether there'll be restocks before launch.

With physical stock drying up, scalpers have swooped in. Some eBay listings are asking between £520 and £730 (roughly 4,716 to 6,620 RMB). A few sellers are even bundling the console with the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake to sweeten the deal — though it's worth noting Nintendo hasn't actually released any such official bundle.

The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 officially launches on October 29, which is a week before the Ocarina of Time remake drops on November 5. As release day creeps closer, the big question on every fan's mind is simple: will you actually be able to buy one at retail price?

Given how these things usually go, you might want to keep your eyes glued to restock alerts. And maybe avoid eBay for a bit — your wallet will thank you.

Are you planning to hunt one down, or are you sitting this one out until the scalpers get bored? Let us know in the comments.
