Zelda: Age of Calamity Hits Switch 2 With 60 FPS and New Calamity Mode

Well, that's one way to make a Zelda fan's day. During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo officially announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is marching onto the Switch 2 — and it's bringing some serious upgrades with it. The definitive edition of the 2020 Musou crossover launches on February 25, 2027.

If you played the original on Switch, you know it was a blast — but it also pushed the old hardware to its absolute limits, with frame rates that occasionally dipped into slideshow territory. That's about to change in a big way. The Switch 2 version runs at 60 FPS, serves up higher resolution visuals, and throws even more enemies onto the battlefield at once. Basically, the chaotic, hundred-enemy brawls the game was always meant to deliver are finally running the way they should.

And that's not all. This port bundles in every piece of content that was previously sold as part of the Expansion Pass. So if you skipped the DLC the first time around, you're getting the complete package right out of the box.

There's also something new for veterans: a brand-new difficulty called Calamity Mode. As the name suggests, this isn't for the faint of heart.
