Crimson Desert DLC 'Unknown Journey' Drops Oct 30, Adds Marriage

Ever dreamed of building your own ship, sailing past the horizon, then pulling on a diving suit to poke around sunken ruins? Crimson Desert: Enhanced Edition is about to let you do exactly that.

Pearl Abyss has dropped a preview video for "Unknown Journey," the first DLC for its open-world action adventure game. It launches globally on October 30 (Taiwan time) across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic Games Store — same date, every platform.

The story picks up right after Kliff, Damiane and Oongka have fought through brutal battles and successfully protected the continent of Pywel. This time, each of the three leads heads off on a personal journey of self-discovery, crossing paths with new characters and opening a brand-new chapter along the way.

Then there's the ocean, which arrives as a fully explorable new stage. A new Ship Building feature lets you turn resources into your own vessel and decorate it however you like before setting sail. Cross the open water and you'll run into all sorts of islands — clear out the hostile forces occupying them, work alongside your Greymane companions to develop strongholds, and earn rewards by exploring and completing new challenges. And yes, you can go under: craft your own diving suit, pair it with new underwater movement tools, and go hunting for sunken ruins, treasure and extra resources.

Back on land, the social side gets a lot more personal. Kliff, Damiane and Oongka can build trust with specific characters, and those relationships can grow into romance or even marriage. Characters you grow close to will also show up at the Greymane camp to spend time with you.

Management is getting fleshed out too. Some liberated fortress strongholds can now be run by you — rent facilities across Pywel, assign companions to them, then choose what to sell and how to run the place, steadily stacking up wealth. The homestead system expands into free home decoration and design as well: beyond interior furnishings, you can design walls, windows and the basic layout of your house, and after liberating certain castles you can even decorate the inside and use it as your base.

Combat gets a fresh addition as well — new content designed to test your battle strength and new strategies. Head out and challenge the powerful bosses that appear across Pywel; take them down and rewards are yours.

Pre-orders are already live on all platforms. Everyone who pre-orders gets in-game items: the "Secret Realm Explorer Diving Suit Set" for Kliff and Oongka, plus the "Secret Realm Explorer Light Diving Suit Set" for Damiane. So — is the marriage system the thing that sold you, or are you here for the ship building? What do you think?
